If you are considering donating arms or arms related artifacts to the museum, Please read the guidelines below. Transportation of such items onto Camp Shelby is restricted and requires special coordinating instructions prior to any such donation. The museum may accept loans only under exceptional circumstances as determined by the Museum Director.
All offers of donation to the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum must follow museum donation policies.
The best way to begin your offer is to obtain, fill out, and return a copy of the Offer of Donation form or by visiting the museum and getting a copy from the Visitor Services Coordinator. No offer will be considered without this form being completed. Remember that it is important to be as descriptive as you can and even include detailed pictures of your item. Also include any history (provenance) that you may know about the item. Items of particular acquisition interest to the museum at the present time are listed here.
Please remember that even though your item may have intrinsic or historic value, these factors may have no bearing on the museum’s ultimate decision of whether or not to accept your offer. The museum may have similar items in storage or the item may not fit into the museum’s collection scope. A decision made by the museum not to accept your offer in no way diminishes the value of your item.
Never bring a firearm, edged weapon, or live ammunition onto Camp Shelby or to the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum without prior authorization and instructions from the Museum.
Never transport a loaded weapon or live ammunition to Camp Shelby.
If authorized to transport a weapon to Camp Shelby for an appointment with museum staff, please transport it in a case, bag or blanket.
Never brandish a weapon while at Camp Shelby or on the museum grounds.
Never attempt to disassemble ordnance (bombs, grenades, artillery projectiles, cartridges, etc.) to determine if it is live or not.
